This is your plan for rollover protection in your car? You are not integrating the crash structure into the shell like every other car and instead going with the roll cage approach?
I know it is just a test car right now but are you seriously planning on either retooling or including the cage in the final car?

I think the vehicle right now is just a proof of concept, and since they don’t have access to the traditional tooling of automakers, they can’t make traditional concepts (which are usually modified cars anyways).

Autonomous track car perhaps?

Well, its a good thing that autonomous cars won’t roll over because they’ll never get into accidents. Or at least that’s what Alissa Walker tells me...

Don’t even get me started on the contents of the article I pulled this from. Making the statement that autonomous cars wont add to emissions because all autonomous cars are electric (linking to her own article about how electric cars don’t help with emissions because of coal power plants) when this is the first example of a fully autonomous car that doesn’t have a gas engine (and as far as I’m aware these haven’t even made it onto actual roads yet).

If I have to, I’ll roll down the window and fart out of it as I’m going along.

that’s clearly the track model - radio, headliner and AC delete, plus the roll bar

Thank you, I was worried that I was the only one who followed the click-bait and raged out about the content. I couldn’t even formulate a response, I was so incensed.

Oppo should start a petition or something to Michael Ballaban to stop these articles being cross posted to Jalopnik. They go completely against what Jalopnik is about.

I do understand that they’re car-related in topic, but yeah, I know what you mean. I’d probably sign, but I imagine the cross-posting isn’t regulated much between Gawker blogs: “Hey Jimmy: does this article have cars in it?” “Yeah. Why?” “Throw it on that Jalopey-website, they like cars.” “Boss, this is an opinion article about
Top Gear UK
being the work of Lucifer...” “Just do it, Jimmy. Frothing-mad engine-heads click same as the rest of ‘em.” (You know where I’m trying to go with this; I’m sorry it’s late and I can’t think of a better hypothetical.)

I just think there is something wrong with posting something with the tag of ban cars to a website about cars.

If what they pay Alissa Walker to do is get clicks, then she earns whatever they pay her.

Why not? If the shell is sufficiently quiet, and the bars are padded, why not?

My company is working for a startup. The complete ignorance is disturbing.
If i hear “we need to break the mold” one more time, I’m gonna break someones nose.
